Great to see my hero getting his just dues. Nothing but respect for him and what he's done for the sport in our country.

Here's how I honored the 30th year anniversery of that amazing ride. Took out five of his bikes over the same 6 mile route to show my respect for the man.

The other great photo from the 89 Worlds.

Lemond’s quads are enormous even compared to Kelly and Konyshev. (See photo above especially) A once in a lifetime package of heart, lungs, legs, speed and endurance.

Thanks for sharing. Well deserved recognition for Lemond.

Total respect.

When Cunegofan shows up in this thread and starts to slam greg and defend lance please do not take the bait. Let Greg have his day, he does deserve it.

and perseverance

Fignon (whose outlines can be barely gleaned in the photo I posted) attacked earlier on the final climb, distancing Lemond briefly, but Lemond came back on the descent

Rather fitting, considering how he won the Tour that year

Awesome. I have very few, if any sports heroes aside from Greg.

Only one that's never let me down. So well-deserved.

Yup, best race photo ever.

It was greg's TDF TT in '89, after seeing it on the news, that got me wanting to try cycling, leading to road racing, leading now to Ironman and a much healthier lifestyle than I'm sure I otherwise would have had!
