Chris King moves to Lifetime Warranty

Pretty bold move, even on bearings. Their stuff is a bit pricey, but it's nice to see a company make everything in-house and stand behind it.

We make our bearings here in Portland, OR and we back them with a lifetime warranty. Our parts and bearings are designed to be fully serviceable, but if you actually manage to damage one, the King Lifetime Warranty means that we will repair any part that hinders the function of your component free of charge

Interesting. They must either think this not going to cost them much, or they think it is going to convert buyers.

I wouldn't have thought there were many people looking at King products and saying, "These are great! but I'm not going to buy because there's no life time warranty." Maybe I'm wrong.

heh heh
oldpotatoe just built a a kickass mtb wheelset with those matte punch hubs. that pink looks wonderful on my matte black carbon bike. Not to mention that CK sound.
Get it Angry. And once to have it on your bike, you wont stop looking at it. and while riding, all you'd want to do is coast so as to hear that sound.

Is this retroactive? My BB, headset and hubs are all CK and they've been flawless. I used to think it was silly to pay $200 for headset but after 3 years with no issues I'm a believer.

The press release indicates the warranty is retroactive to January 1 of this year. The warranty also excludes abuse and neglect, which is for CK to judge. I'm not sure the new warranty will win back customers lost due to warranty claims denied in the past.

Sounds similar to Cane Creek's 110 warranty.

They’re total junk. Any component that might fail after only 111 years of use is not good enough for me.

Polarizing aspects such as sound/cost/etc. aside, my experience with CK customer service and warranty issues has been exceptional every time. And I'm talking about hubs and headsets that go back >20 years without a hiccup.

But is it transferable for 3 generations??? My C.C. stuff's going to outlast not only me but probably my son and possibly any future children as well...

I think if you ever had a problem and contacted King, they would help you out. They did for me and they included additional parts that were updated.

Too bad this warranty wasn't in place when I bought my Campy FHB R45s in 2012.

"chriskingbuzz

They make their own cartridge bearings? That seems surprising.
