Etap RD Wifli setup
Hi Gang.
The RD on Michelle’s new ETAP has been malfunctioning. A warranty replacement is in the mail. The owners manual says to install the chain before setting up the limit screws. Is that really necessary? A lot easier centering the pulley on the small and large cogs without the chain. Also the instructions called for 4-6mm B-adjustment between the large cog and pulley. I used that measurement for the previous install. But when I brought it to the shop to check my work he opened the gap up to 8-10mm. Was he correct? Or does it matter all that much? Thanks Dan

If you don't have the chain on, the pulley will go into the spokes when on the biggest cog in the back.

Put the chain on.

As long as the top jockey wheel doesn't hit the large cog in the little ring while shifting or riding, you can put the b adjustment as close as you want.
