That noise you hear is the sound of the bike crying because you removed all of those Campy parts. Seriously, the crank being Campy should have no affect on the drivetrain noise.

Oh, and nice bike. I don't know how you manage to find all these killer bikes....

Nice bike. I'm curious to hear more background about how the deal came about.

After everyone has gone to bed, I went back to the garage to check up on the noise. It's "fixed" now....I replaced the chain. Everything is as smooth and quiet....as a mouse. Looking forward to the first ride tomorrow.

The rear cassette is 11-36, rear deraileur is a lowly Tiagra long cage. Again, just trying to use what I have and get the bike functional so I can ride it tomorrow!
I'm guessing the CRs are worn..same noise big or little ring? Also, which chain, new one? Shimano? It's directional..name on plates facing out?

But the crank doesn't care..10s is 10s, cranks and chains.

I did not thank each and every positive vibe including the friendly shed-campagnolo-tears jabs, that pals were sending my way, but please know that I appreciate them all!

Thank you old pal, I know I can always count on you.
I think I simply made the mistake of using a 11-speed chain instead of 10 speed. It's all good now.

If I am allowed to gripe, one thing that's missing on this bike is the lack of an extra water bottle boss on the seat tube, so I may have to get one of these...

That would hurt the paint...
I like your drivetrain mix. It should work perfectly.

Make sure to protect the tube with good quality clear "helicopter tape" to prevent rust. The metal bands will vibrate and eat into the paint allowing moisture to intrude. And the clear tape will let you inspect it easily so you can change it out when it wears through.

no, no, no! just do what Richie does and use electrical tape:

seriously though, awesome bike! and I don't fault you for your drivetrain decisions; I have Sram on mine

Yes, colker pal, it's a 56.

Tick pal, I wouldn't mind keeping the original Campagnolo parts on if...

1) it comes with a big enough cassette eg. 11-34

2) the shifters are silver and not the carbon variety

I am bringing a bike to Boston late May but I am not sure if the RS is going actually, it will probably be my ritchey breakaway bike because it can handle a fatter tire (35mm).
To answer an earlier question, I got three travel bikes now - 2 S&S coupled, 1 ritchey breakaway.
cool beans on taking it (or not it) to boston. I like your freewheel-traveling style and like most of the bikes posted on here, I love living vicariously through everyone else's aquisitions.

Looking forward to the post ride report!

Good morning Paceline!

Took it for a quick spin down the road, all systems are a GO!

It's gonna be a nice ride later today - 65 degrees blue sunny sky.

Oh Boy! NICE!
I'd just slap an extra water bottle in my jersey pocket and you're good to go....

Campag brakes? Ahh, you cheated.

If ya get any noise, replace the BB cups with 'green' ones.

Is that a Specialized saddle? If so, this may be an option for one or two additional bottles.
