Are the cinch locks worth toting around for quick stops or are they so ineffective as to be more trouble than they are worth?

For me, yes. I’ve had one for ~6 months and find it convenient for running errands on my single speed, but of course that’s a very different use case from locking up a nice bike. I don’t delude myself that a determined thief wouldn’t be able to overcome it.
