DIY Cutout on Brooks C17??

Has anyone tried doing a custom DIY cutout on their Brooks Cambium? I have a C17 in natural that I got for cheap without the carve as it seems impossible to get the carved version in the natural color anymore! I plan to cut out the carve with a dremel, but my only concern is whether or not the canvas layer could delaminate from the rubber in the center if the bonding/gluing only took place around the edges. My assumption is the Brooks factory is just taking the standard C17 and carving it anyway!

Cheers,
Andy

I'd go for it, and maybe just seal the edges with something.

It could delaminate, sure, no idea on that.
But I can say the fabric is glued/adhered entirely to the rubber shell. It isn't just on the edge or anything.
