Storage solutions for cables, housing, spokes etc?
I'm in the process of revamping my work area and getting the space organized better. I've got most of the components covered with large Tupperware and shelving, and recently purchased as large rolling toolbox for my larger tools, finishing materials etc. What I am still struggling to keep neat and organized is the awkward stuff like rolls of cable housing, dozens of shift and brake cables and spokes. Anyone have any tips for how to keep these items together and compact, yet easily accessible without unbundling or making a mess? Creative storage solutions for other bike stuff welcome as well. Thanks!

I use freezer size Ziplock bags and roll the housing/cables by groups
Shift housing in one Brake housing in another Brake cables in one Shift cables in another. The bags are see through so it’s fairly easy to identify what’s what. Then use a small box and stand them all up next to each other and tuck em away |

You know those "accordion folders" used to store documents-you could stash and segregate the cables in one of them and label the separators. I currently do this with sandpaper, and it works great.

Hubs separated by make and type on bottom with containers for small parts and cables.
Spokes in the middle, stored by make, type and finish. |

If you don't have boxes for the spokes, or if they are all assorted lengths, I tend to wrap masking tape around them and write down the spoke length on the tape directly.
Then, the spokes can be kept in a single box or tupperware container. |

This is what I do as well, except I wrap the spokes with an elastic band and put the tape on one spoke only, that way I can pull out one or a few spokes without having to remove and replace the masking tape, plus the elastic holds them tight. I can then also double check the length against the taped reference spoke.

This pic is firing up my OCD tendencies. I'd have to have all the bucket lid colors match.
