Actually, no. It's called Ugo Blue or De Rosa Blue. According to Martina, Ugo loved the color so he used it quite a bit and it became their color. Which is why it's in the color line-up as well as the color for the Bixxis company logo.

BX-06 is the color code for Bixxis. Antigua Blue Metallic

This Bixxis Prima belongs to a PLF member. It's on its way to its new home. Since it will have a Campagnolo kit on it, we included a Campagnolo Record Hiddenset integrated headset. Looking forward to seeing the final product.

Love it! Fresh snow makes for some perfect pics to showcase the frame.

Fresh snow always makes for great photo backgrounds. It was tough finding a place that hadn't been walked thru a ton. I have some great places up here for photos.

X-stays?

Can you provide a bit of detail about the X-stays? How are they unique? Are the chainstays custom drawn??

I believe the entire tubeset that they use for the Prima is custom drawn to their spec.

Correct Mr. Haldy.
The tubeset is custom drawn and shaped by Columbus for Doriano De Rosa and Bixxis. Including the X-Stays. It's essentially a Columbus Spirit HSS tubeset but again, specific to Doriano's design and requirements.

The Pathos titanium tubeset is custom drawn and shaped by Reynolds.

Super cool bikes! Do the Pathos (titanium) models have the X stays as well?

Thanks, Tim

Yes. They are shaped slightly different due to the material but yes, the Pathos does have them.

X-stays - custom drawn but what 'issues' do they address

I appreciate they are 'custom drawn' but trying to understand if that is more of a marketing angle or does the X-stay design behave differently from the original/precursor Life stays?

Life stays have a very different shape, A very flat ellipse shape. X-Stays are round, stay round pretty much the entire way, the butting is different and they have a sharper bend to allow for more tire clearance. These are also larger diameter than any of the stays Columbus offers. So these are very different stays.

I seriously must win the Mega-Gajillions Lotto to accommodate all my bicycle purchasing fantasies.

great explanation

Thanks! Great info. the Bixxis site doesn't provide a lot of detail on these despite being a key bit of the overall design.
