Has anyone (with experience with these saddles) have a comparison to a standard Arione. Looks like the Lupina is a close match in shape and dimension so I was curious about any real opinions. I'm interested in the unpadded version for some reason, probably due to never trying anything unpadded. I know saddles are extremely rider specific, but any opinions are welcomed...

JUst a question, not that I have the money to pay for one of those saddles, which honestly I do not have, but it is in consideration a saddle that is extra narrow in the front at some point?? Just for the thick tight and straight pedaling guys???

I can only speak of the Arione. My personal experience is, the lower and more stretched out you get, the more comfortable it is. When I'm upright, it is not as good. Being short, my drop to the bars is not huge but like being stretched out. I am not comfortable being upright for very long. As it is, I ordered a padded Lupina. I like the narrow section for pedaling and the front length is probably not as useful, but being able to slide back is nice. The Arione is on the flat side with no real dip, so moving around is easy. Not sure about the Lupina yet, but being narrow, it should be suited for a more aggressive riding position.

Comes down to preference, but the Lupina is Berk's most common saddle with a narrow profile in the front. The Lupina is similar in shape to the Selle-Italia SLR, but not as stiff. The Berk relies on a slight flex which adds to the comfort of the saddle. There is plenty of room to move around, but to agree with Jef58, the front profile allows for an easy transition to the drops.

Well, I ended up ordering a padded Lupina. The saddle arrived pretty quick with no issues. Dealing with Eric at Elite Velo was very easy with professional and prompt service.
The saddle was put on a bike that just got back from a repaint and hasn't been ridden in a while. Having only Arione saddles on my bikes, the Lupina is a different saddle. Both get more comfortable the lower you are, but I feel the Lupina is a little more sensitive to get the set up just right. There was some discomfort at the end of the 40 mile shakedown ride after sitting upright the last mile or so before home. I'm currently working to get the fit just right with a lower position than the last fit points I had for the bike. This seems to work for this saddle and overall bike fit. The saddle itself is of very good quality and the purchase experience was very good as well. That said, I'll try to get a few more rides in to see if any other teaks are needed and see how the Lupina will work out in the long run. |

I had a small hiccup with my Lupina the other day. I emailed Eric to ask what to do and within the hour I was driving home with a new Lupina. Eric really stands by Berk, and in turn, Berk stands by their products. It's nice to have such a great retailer like Eric in the US. I wish more retailers would take pride in the products they sell rather than let the manufacturer deal with any issues that might arise.
Rest assured that Eric will take care of his clients should the need manifest. It goes without saying, but I highly recommend him. |

To answer most questions and keep everyone up to speed, moving forward, Jure Berk will be offering all his saddles in 7x9 oval rails to accommodate all riders up to 220 pounds. While the 7mm round rails are popular with the "weight weenie" crowd, the stout 7x9 oval rails only add an additional 7gm weight penalty, and when torqued to 5nm, they are still light, stronger, yet just as comfortable. Since most modern seat posts can accommodate both oval and round, he felt this was the best solution.
That being said, Berk will still offer 7mm round rails, but as special order only. 7mm round rails left in stock are offered at reduced pricing as follows: 1 x 132mm unpadded 3K gloss 1 x 150mm unpadded 3k gloss 1 x 150mm unpadded 3k matte Please email info@elitevelosolutions.com for pricing and/or information regarding. |

New Dila model
I'm pleased to announce that Berk has a new saddle in production which I'll be receiving next week for personal testing. Similar to the Lupina which are offered in narrow and wide options (132/150mm), this new Dila model follows suit (140.3 vs current 160mm) This 140mm wide saddle will provide an alternative for those in between sizes.
Like all Berk saddles, it will be available in padded and unpadded versions in 7x9 oval rails for rider's up to 220lbs. 7mm round rails will be available as special order only. I have a pre-order for the padded version, but if anyone has any special requests, please feel free to send an email to info@elitevelosolutions.com Pricing for this new model is $280.90 and includes free shipping within the states. |

Amazing Customer Service
Folks,
I wanted to give a long over-due shout out to Eric and Berk saddles. Last fall, Eric went out of his way to ensure I got my custom white Berk saddle in time for a key race. Well, late in the fall, this bike had a small mishap and the Berk saddle was damaged. Eric and Berk replaced the saddle at no-charge and within a week. I was totally blown away. It is this kind of customer service that MAKES a brand. Thanks Eric and Berk!!! |

That is great to hear.
I have been looking for a mtb saddle. Any chance Berk has one? |

While I know there are some using Berk while on gravel and mtb, Jure does not recommend it due to the impact the saddles take during multiple falls/crashing consistent with mtb. While the use of stout 7x9 oval rails solve part of the equation, the padding is only 3mm thick and will eventually tear. |
