Campagnolo 12 speed rear derailleur issues

Hi guys,

Is someone else having a lot of trouble with the 12 speed rear derailleurs?? The carbon part that supports the pinch bolt is failing a lot, I already have 2 derailleurs with the same issue and my mechanic had a 3rd one. One was a Chorus, another a Record and the third one was a Super Record so it seems it is a design issue.

I am a bit surprised that you saw it with chorus and record/SR given the material are different.

I think the bodies are all made from the same material.

The pivots are. Chorus has an alloy outer plate. (I own one)

I own a Chorus 12 kit and have sold multiple SR12, R12 and C12 kits over the last year +. Including being used on gravel bikes. I have never had one come back or heard of anything wrong with them. One bike, the guy bent a chainring. But he fully admits it was his fault. I've nor heard of or seen this before. Also, as Bird mentioned, the outer plate on the Chorus 12 is alloy, not carbon. So I'd be really surprised if it broke from normal usage.

I have Chorus 12 on two bikes. Love the rear shifting performance -- no issues at all.

Ive been a long time Campagnolo user and never had any issues at all. The issues were reported by 2 different mechanics so it shouldnt be an installation problem. Im sending them back today and Ill report on Campagnolos reply

Very interested to hear what you learn. It’s certainly odd that you have seen it with multiple mechanics, multiple bikes, and multiple materials.

Any photos of the alloy one?

The chorus part is aluminum, painted black. Noticeably different than the composite parts.

Pictures should be on the Campy website.

No pics of the broken Chorus so we will leave that one out as there is no evidence, but lets see what Campagnolo says about this 2 and I hope I dont have any more issues because it is a pain to send them back (I live in Mexico)

Are you sending them to Campy USA?

Thumbs up

Campagnolo Super Record 12-speed has performed nicely and without any issues on my bicycles.
