So, uh... if you were to hypothetically sell the E46... got a price?

Richard Valentine has a new detector out.

Might be a good investment, if you choose to keep the buggy.

Just sayin'...

I had an 01 e46 for a number of years. Such a capable car. It was a giant slayer on the track. Car was very balanced and the motor was amazing.
I miss it.

An old pic coming out of Oak Tree at VIR I have in my office

I'm definitely more of an E36 fanboy.
But this one is nice. Really (in my un-knowledged car opinion) the last of the pure BMW's.

I had a phoenix yellow metallic E46 M3 and it was incredible. The engine would sing all the way to it's 7900 rpm redline. The S54 was quite a feat at the time. First n/a production engine to have more than 100hp per liter of output, faster than a base 911 Carrera etc etc etc. I'm a fanboy for sure

Good question. Son paid $15k and drove less than 1k. miles. I think I'll put together a list of the mods/etc. and seek some opinions, although all the love for E46s here might make it hard to do the sensible thing ..... ; )

The canyon into Mitchel is fun as well but will make you think twice about how much grip you really have.

The sensible thing is to keep the car!

Reading this thread makes me miss my e36. Don't miss the maintenance, even the DIY ones.

funny, my dad just told me 2 days ago he wants to get rid of his e30(convertible, so im not heart broken) and get a "2011 M3" because of the V8. Tho googling a bit tells me they have significant issues even at as low as 18k miles...

I keep hearing about newish cars having these issues even at low miles. Like a subaru with 26k miles needing 3 out of 4 wheel bearings replaced already. What the heck is going on? My e30 had 200k miles before it needed 2 wheel bearings replaced. Makes me never want to have a newish car.

I believe Honda (F20C) would like a word...

I think it was released several months before the S54.

My dad just went from an E60 M5 to the F90. Needless to say, I really miss the E60...

While the F90 has endless creature comforts and feels WAY faster, the sound from that V10 trumps all. I also really miss the SMG and throttle blips associated with it on the E60. The F90 also feels a lot bigger than the E60...
