Hope RX4 Thoughts

I'm thinking of switching the brake calipers on my No22 Drifter from SRAM Force AXS to Hope RX4.

Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with these brakes?

I've read mostly good reviews but there are a few people that have stories of frozen/stuck pistons and not being able to get the brakes to work properly after this happens.

I do and I look marvelous and work marvelously. I highly recommend the OP does this.

One thing that drives me crazy about sram road discs is the long throw of the levers before engagement—even with advancing the pads. Any difference using the hope calipers?

yes. they work much better and engagement is less binary and has a better throw.

I bought a set of these for my hakka so hopefully (no pun intended) they are good. Going to use them with rival levers. I would be stoked if they even remotely approach the strength of my MTB brakes.

I've had the Post Mount Version for a few years for use with Potenza Levers - No issues at all.

Now I just need to find them in stock somewhere. Merlin Cycles has them but I've read that getting warranty service through Hope USA (if necessary) is an issue if not purchased in the US.

Also, my bike takes a 140mm rotor in the rear by default, so I have the SRAM adapter to run a 160mm rotor. I assume I could just use the SRAM adapter but not sure.

Hope calipers are 160mm specific. No adapters needed (and not 140mm compatible).

I run this setup. I have a frame that does not have Flat Mount and with Campagnolo hydro only selling Flat Mounts I went with the RX4.

They are awesome! I love their feel and how nuanced they can be.

BTW, https://www.bike-components.de has these on stock.

ChristianWong does this mean the Hope calipers will or will not work with the No22 Drifter?

If the Drifter is normal flat mount it'll work. Typically 140mm rotors with flat mount requires no adapter and 160mm rotors do require an adapter. It sounds like the RX4 is a different design than normal flat mount calipers and will take a 160 if you just mount it straight to the frame.

Some (very, very few) manufacturers are making flat mount frames native to 160 (instead of the typical 140) and in those cases this would only work with a 180mm rotor. Nothing on the No22 site indicates different so it should work just fine with your frame assuming you're already running or willing to run a 160mm rotor.
