11-23 with di2

So I posted last week about looking for an 11-23 11sp cassette. Well, I got it today and slapped it on the bike. Plug the bike into my PC to update the sync shift stuff, and 11-23 isn't listed

Turns out Shimano says the 11-23 cassette isn't compatible with the rd8050 rear deraileur.

Does anyone know why, or is anyone successfully running an 11-23 11sp with di2? I honestly don't care about the sync shift stuff I just don't want the RD doing weird things or the chain falling off the 23t...

i'd think it would work fine, it just wants to know the tooth count for sync shift.
just set to 11-25 or whatever is closest?
if your limit screws are set correctly it shouldn't go off into the spokes.

Is it a question of the RD-R8050-SS VS RD-R8050-GS?

Don't worry about it not being listed - the selected cassette doesn't really affect shifting anyway. If it works, it works.

Picks the closest match and you'll be fine

and of course if you want a bike computer to display the right gear combo you can manually program each cog, at least you can on Garmin.

Didn't even know that was an option! Will have to look into that on my edge 520+...
