Best tire for mixed use

Lucky enough to live in a part of NJ, roads and rail beds make for some great riding. Just curious what seems to work the best (in your opinion) for this type of riding. The wheels will be 50mm deep carbon wheels, tubeless, 11spd Thanks

Panaracer Gravel Kings are pretty great all arounders and tough to beat in terms of value, IMO.

I have many miles on the 700x38 slicks, 700x38 SKs, and 650x48 SKs.

For road/railtrail use I'd choose them in the above listed order, assuming efficiency/speed is the priority. The SKs still roll very well on pavement but the added tread is not needed on trails or rail trail terrain, again, just IMO.

WTB makes some great mixed terrain tires but I've read anecdotally (here on PL) they have been having QA/QC issues of late. In particular I've ridden the Horizon and Byways 650x47s for thousands of trouble-free miles, apart from one puncture due to a nail I picked up with one of the Horizons. Fixed right away with a Dynaplug...

I also like Compass/Herse and ride/have ridden many of their tires, but in general they're stupid money and, IME, very delicate and susceptible to flatting with either the standard or extra light casing. But they ride soooo nicely.

Gravelking slicks or my new favorite the gravelking ss. The ss have proven to be extremely durable plus they roll really well.

Had good luck with clement/Donnelly xplor ush. Believe you can get tubeless. Fast and light with a little side tread too.

i probably ride a lot of the same roads as you do.

what width of tire can your bike accomodate?

i really like lately wtb expanse for a capable on/off road tire (32mm)

I’ve been really impressed with Schwab’s G-Ones. Using 35mm All-Around version on my gravel bike currently.

For a true file tread, the skinny 28mm Panaracer GravelKings are nice.

Very happy with my new G-One Speeds. The new addix ones have additional flat protection, my old ones punctured too easily. Also got a set of the Bite ones for softer trails.

Something tubeless, G-one Speed, Grand Prix 5000 S in 32mm, maybe GravelKing SS if the ratio of rock:road favors Rock.

GK Slicks are ok, Schwalbe as mentioned and I also like the Vittoria Terreno Dry in size 33.

I tried the Gravel King slicks after reading a lot of positive feedback on them in different forums.

so tried them out in 32mm and really liked the ride and feel of them BUT they wore out extremely fast on the rear - replacement tire got a cut straight away so now only the front tire is still in use with a different brand rear on my Road+.

I went back to my beloved Challenge Strada Bianca - have ridden the Plus, Race and Pro versions and very happy with all of them (please note the older none TL versions but am sure the new TL ones are just as great)

Specialized Pathfinder Pro 38 or 42 is a phenomenally fast tire if you don't want a full slick

If you do, Gravelking Slick is good to go

I've been using the G-One All round in 35mm on my Moots CX Bike, very good tire on smooth road, and enough grip on gravel and sand to have plenty of fun.
