Stars on Mars

Apparently this is for real?

https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/l...t-takes-to-win

Should I watch it or not?

.. And a lot of Australians aren't happy about it.

https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/lan...ty-show-debut/

Apparently, this production received financial support from the Australian government, who were unaware that Armstrong was involved. Many Australians are still pissed after it came out that the Australian government paid Armstrong $1,000,000 to come out out of retirement to appear at the Tour Down Under in 2009.

(Some may also remember Armstrong should not have been allowed to compete, as he had not been a part of the WADA drug monitoring program for 6 months before competition, as WADA rules required. But the rules were frequently bent just for Armstrong, so this shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone.)

Here's a description of the show from the linked article:

Quote:
The Texan is appearing in the show 'Stars on Mars' - Fox's latest foray into the vast landscape of competition based "reality" that features a baffling array of other public figures.

A tedious insult to actual astronauts, the show has players wearing video game-like suits and simulating colonising Mars with the South Australia outback providing the set for the outdoor scenes.

I'd watch, if they put him on "Mars" with all the people that had their careers/lives ruined by his vindictive tactics. Blanket party.

This certainly seems like a stupid reality show that I'm not going to watch, but the idea that Australian should be angry at Lance for an appearance fee from 14 years ago is ridiculous. It is similarly ridiculous to think that any actual astronauts would be insulted by this.

Considering all we now know about the guy, it's amazing there is an argument

Took a while, but, I knew he'd wind up in reality TV somewhere.

Next, Snookie in Space!

Well, at this point, money must be drying up, especially after the awful market last year. Retiring young requires luck and discipline.
