There's already a round 2 of the scammer going around, one "Karius".

We get targeted because people keep falling for it.

Stop sending f/f to anyone you don't fully trust. Stop responding to sketchy people with no history who immediately point you to outside emails/contact.

None of you who send f/f to the last round are going to get your money back. Don't send anything "just to test." It just means they're going to keep coming back, because they keep getting money coming here.

Also, setting the classifieds to private won't stop them, it'll just remove legitimate buyers.

Tons of people - including myself - found and joined and participated here after finding the classifieds from Google. There are plenty of proxy purchases where a member here helps a friend buy something, who would never have even seen the item if it was private.

Set the private message threshold to the same as the threshold to post here. Use common sense when buying and don't send f/f.

Yes, I'm working on it. It's more complicated than I thought, and will need to solve this a different way. My other attempt to solve this problem isn't working.

Unless I totally screwed this up, I was able to grandfather in all those that currently have the ability to use the PM feature...but all new users from today moving forward will not have ability to send PM's.

Correct, they have to hit the 30 post count before they can PM.

I've had only really excellent interactions on this forum, sales and otherwise. Bought a few high end frames, sold one here and another to a member here but through Craigslist. Always positive. Gotten great advice from people here, even made a few efriends.

A pox on these stupid jerks. Can the mods send them a 'worm' that opens a dancing banana when they fire up their emails?
