Her constituents don't even know who she is, no doubt. I mean, I don't want to offend, but, a white women high in Jersey City politics struck me as a bit odd, if you know Jersey City.

Nobody cares about "local politics". (Sorry for the politics)

Not surprising at all.... Jersey City is quite diverse and the way you keep control is have 'at-large' voting. She doesn't really have constituents except fellow democrats on the slate.
Literally, 'at-large' voting is the strongest kind of gerry-mandering.

If you read- her dad held the seat before her before elected Country Executive and before that, she was chair of the democratic party.

It is alot like Yonkers just north of NYC in Westchester.

She will win any reelection bid in landslide fashion and will be rewarded with higher office.

"Her case will ultimately play out in court, likely outside of Hudson County. She has been issued two summonses, one for failure to report an accident and a second for leaving the scene of an accident."

If there was serious bodily injury to the cyclist, then the possibility of criminal offense charge exists and is maxes out at 5 yrs.

However, since he was not seriously injured, ran the red light, the leaving the scene of an accident can also become just a traffic violation as per NJ law.

I see a traffic violation in her future. That's all

Most states (and insurers) take hit & run quite seriously.
It will cost her far more than a simple $75.00 ticket.
I concur that since she is influential it will stop at that.

Color me shocked. It’s almost like she knew she’d get in trouble if she stopped…

but she has to be even more stupid to think she is not going to be in EVEN more trouble for not stopping. At a busy ass NJ intersection. A ton of people and cameras (and boy what quality on those cameras too, you can't run away from **** like this anymore... and that is a good thing).

yikes. we do tend to hear this same story time and time again where the driver who ultimately injures or kills someone has a long history of bad driving.

So much for holding public officials to a high standard.

"Jersey City councilwoman’s hit-and-run case is moved to Essex County"
https://www.nj.com/hudson/2022/08/je...ex-county.html

This is interesting, "The initial police summonses issued to DeGise listed that there was no personal injury caused by the crash and it’s not clear yet whether she’ll be charged with causing personal injury. Black went to the hospital after the crash and reported to The Jersey Journal continuing back and ankle pain that he’s seeing a doctor about."

Offend or not, it is simply untrue. The vice mayor was causation, google that reference. That is pretty high up.

Sounds like leaving the scene with personal injury or property damage to me... But I can only see what is directly in front of me...
