Chain Reaction Cycles

Anyone use this retailer for a purchase? If yes, were there any problems with your order?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Cheers.

Have bought significantly amounts of stuff from them.

Now that they don't ship shimano to Canada, less likely.

Never a problem.

Same owner as wiggle. Its a non issue to order from CRC, they are as reliable as any other online retailer.

Bought from them many times. Never had any but minor issues and those were resolved quickly and happily with a partial refund in one case and a replacement shipped in another.

They're very good for what they're good for.

I've used Wiggle a number of times, which also owns Chain Reaction Cycles. Lately Wiggle's shipping times have been amazingly fast.

Oh didn't realize they stopped shipping here (I recently moved back). Any good online retailers who ship to Canada?

I don't think it is a matter of Chain Reaction not shipping to Canada at all, but of there being vendor restrictions on shipping certain brands to Canada. They can still ship plenty of other brands to Canada (such as Campagnolo, Continental, FSA, KMC, etc.).

By the way, Chain Reaction and some other retailers can't ship Shimano or SRAM to anywhere in North America, including the US and Canada.

I have shopped with Chain Reaction many times in the past, but not particularly recently. I can say that they have generally been good, and even when things did not go as expected their customer service resolved any issue I experienced, eventually.

For a period, there did seem to be some problems with shipping (to Canada, in my case); I had one shipment fail to arrive which could not then be tracked, and a couple of shipments that took an eternity to make it to my front door...and one, in the same 6-month period, that was damaged badly in transit. In both cases where shipments were lost or damaged, I did eventually get replacement items dispatched. **** happens. I believe that they changed their shipping arrangements/contractor subsequently, so I would expect any issues along these lines may have been cleared up - but have not purchased lately, and likely won't do so going forward.

In addition to new dealer restrictions related to supply-chain integrity measures put in place (Shimano, as of Jan 2019, and SRAM previously), I've noticed that Chain Reaction now charges significant additional shipping charges on larger items that used to be sometimes worthwhile to buy when free/minimal shipping charges applied (e.g. some brands of rims).

I expect their Canadian business to drop off significantly in volume as a result of the combination of changes. I work in an LBS, so that's frankly not unwelcome - as it is hard to convince thrifty buyers to come to the LBS for their items when an entity like Chain Reaction was in many cases selling the same items for less than dealer cost for us to purchase same from a domestic supplier...
