Today, both our cars are sticks - one 5-speed (4cyl turbo), one 6-speed (V8).

It had been years, outside of a test drive in a Hyundai Veloster a few weeks ago. Man, I was rusty. I realized that I started from a dead stop in 2nd gear after I did it. Managed to get underway in 2nd without killing it. I was as smooth as a bucket of sand. Got a few sarcastic comments from my wife, which were pretty hilarious.

I’ve owned at least one vehicle (currently 2) since 1979. I once drove a company Dodge van with a 3 on the tree. Back in those days those fleet vehicles were commonplace and they kind of expected you to know how to drive one.

Funny story: last time I had new tires installed at the local Firestone, none of the techs could drive a manual, so the manager had to drive my car in and out of the bay.

My Nissan Frontier is a 6 spd (2006).
The Volvo S40 T5 is a 6 spd (2006). My son has this one now.
And of course... The 1957 Citroen 2cv is manual, four speed !

Nice, the wife's a got 2006 Xterra 6-speed, and I drive a manual 2007 BMW. I told her to put me out of my misery if I ever have to drive an automatic again. Boring, Sydney, boring.

Too many cars and all are sticks. I kinda want to keep it that way until both kids have learned to drive, so they are forced to learn the manual first.

Same as a few of us here. Everyday. Forever. It's all I've ever had, and I've been around a while.
Why do you ask?

One of my wife’s endearing features is that she prefers a manual transmission over an auto. Up until a few years ago (she just crossed the 50 mark) she had never owned an automobile with an automatic since she obtained her drivers license.

Now that I am eligible for a company car program that basically costs me nothing for the vehicle, shes stuck driving an automatic as that’s all that’s available. Which isn’t much driving now that she works from home.

For me, every once in a while a manual comes through the door and I’m inclined to go for a spin. Last time was probably 6 months ago. Learned manual in my dads Datsun pick up………
