Ritchey Outback back in stock on the website!

Just ordered an XL. If you've been waiting for this to restock, get it while it's hot!

The frame arrived yesterday - being built up at the shop now. I've always wanted a Ritchey, and now I have one. Truly impressed at the quality of construction and the details of the design - Tom's knowledge and thoughtfulness shines through, and the quality of the Taiwanese construction and paint I would hold up against a lot of custom builders.

Stay tuned for a full review and photos in the gallery...

I'd also add that the Outback immediately went out of stock again in all sizes except Medium. Feeling lucky that I got it!

I rode 55 miles of gravel Sunday on my outback breakaway, and I absolutely love the bike—so confidence inspiring and fun to ride. If you are in the market and they have your size, don’t hesitate. In this photo we were about 100 yards from the Mexican border.

How does the outback ride with small(28mm) tires? Thinkin about a new forever bike, but theres no gravel around here that I know of.

28mm tires would work just fine, though the fork clearance will look a little funny. I think you would be a little disappointed with the handling though vs a dedicated road bike - the Outback is long (particularly in the chainstays, but it also has a somewhat relaxed head angle) and as a dedicated road bike it will feel more like a touring bike than a race bike. These characteristics are exactly what I’m looking for in a gravel bike but I’m not sure I’d personally be excited about it as a pure road bike.

For mostly dirt road riding, I really like the 650b x 48mm format on the Outback. I tried 700 x 38mm but went back to 659b.

Bici - how tall are you and what size Outback are you on? I'm assuming you have the v2 Outback with the long chainstays.

My first build will be on 700c - may go 650b if warranted. Sometimes this is a function of rider and frame size.

I'm the same height, so curious about your set-ups.
What are your saddle heights and how many spacers are you running on the front? I have a road logic disc, and it seems like I'm running a really tall stack. My saddle height is about 81.5cm (center of crankset to top of saddle along the seat tube).
