10 or 11 speed friction is no hassle once you put 20 miles on the setup and get used to the spacing.

Almost any decent friction shifter will work fine with 11 speed. Early 7800 BS78's were both friction and indexed 10 speed; later 7850's and 7900's are index only. But 8 or 9 speed Shimao or DA bar ends or DT shifters are both friction and indexed and will be perfectly happy running across an eleven speed cassette in friction mode.
