Do I have the wrong Campy star nut?

I’m trying to install my Campy threadless headset into my 1” threadless steerer (Tommasini Sintesi) and this is the star nut which came with the 1” Campy top cap. The little alloy fingers sticking down do not fit inside the steerer. It is marked 25.4 on one of them. Even bending the tabs in, it doesn’t look close.

Is this for a 1-1/8” steerer?

Well the ID of a 1 inch steerer is 22.2mm, ID for 1 1/8 inch steerer is indeed 25.4...that star but is for 1 1/8inch HS...get any smaller SFN, needn’t be Campag.

Get a nice compressor, easy to remove if needed.
