SLC orientation

Hi all, just moved to SLC.

Anybody in the Salt Lake City area interested in riding? I’m pretty out-of-shape but slowly getting back into it. I’m in the Yalecrest area but open to riding elsewhere. I’m mostly a road rider but wouldn’t mind getting back into mountain biking too.

Also any recommendations for:
1. Mixed terrain rides (up in Park City is fine too)
2. a triathlon training group
3. fun cycling clubs
4. XC skiing group for newbies
5. Bike shop with expertise in tandems

There are a ton of bike companies based in SLC.

Mavic
Enve
Mercury
Rotor
QBP
Reynolds
Razik

All of them have an office there. And a few more I didn't list. And then since Amer Sports owns Mavic and Enve, they also have their ski company offices there. Plenty of people to meet up with and ride. Shouldn't be too hard to find some. Nice area to ride too. Have fun. SLC is a nice area.

I’m jealous. Try branching out into downhill skiing/snowboarding

I worked at snowbird before resuming undergrad. I had the most amazing winter. Utah has the best snow.

Ditto that. My brother in law lives there, so we go out there to ski, visit and ski.

Yup looking forward to the skiing! I used to live in the SF Bay Area and loved skiing but hated the drive.

So far I had a fun workout with the SLC Track Club so if anyone else finds this thread that’s good.

Lots of strong riding happening up there. I'm sure you'll find your crowd.

Any time you want to come down to Provo to ride let me know. When spring comes back you should at least come down to ride the Alpine Loop--pretty spectacular.

Welcome!

Welcome to town. Immigration Canyon, just east of you is a popular slog during the summer, it connects into East Canyon which can open up a ton of nice rides on the backside of the mountains. Trappers Loop is also a good ride too.

I would suggest hitting Snowbasin when the snow flies. It's up north a bit(45mins) but it gets a lot less traffic on powder days and is HUGE.
