Yes, it drops a dam up and down. It is a pretty cool piece of engineering! Known as 5 mile dam.

Always beautiful on the bridge crossing the Croton Dam spillway.

Always scary when it’s this dry.

Rain, rain, don’t go away.

Are you able to cross it like a bridge? Some of those pics looks like your on it w/your bike? Or is that a different location? Pretty cool.

There is a stairway for maintenance, but I do not think you can cross it. On the opposite side is the Erie canalway trail. I crossed over the metal bridge from the other picture to ride the side with the lock dam. It is more fun to ride over on the 5 mile side and brings me out to one of the farms I worked at when I was a teenager.

Very nice. That 2nd pic almost makes it look like it uses traditional tubing.

Not sure what kind this is, but check out the size relative to my 29” wheels!

I worry this picture will be used by the anti-mask movement as "proof" that masks don't work. (south of Copake, NY)

Holy smokes that's a big one for sure. Looks like some sort of shelf fungus but it does not appear to be growing on a log?

Rode out of Copake, NY with my son today. 24 mile loop and a stop before heading home to refill my growler and pick up a 4 pack from a local brewery (and of course a stop for ice cream on the way home. If you're ever in Amenia - try Fudgy's!

October Mountain State Forest in the Berkshires . . .

. . . yesterday to celebrate the birthday of one of our lady friends. I've never ridden over that way and it was some pretty country with not as much climbing as I expected. We stopped by Jacob's Pillow Dance Camp, closed because of Covid, so we supplied our own modern dance moves. But beware those potholes hidden away in the sun-dappled shade spots! I'm sporting a pretty good sized bandage this morning. After the ride it was time for some reward food and drink.
