Serotta Meivici

Having always been a Serotta fan I have always wanted to try out a Meivici. I have owned a number of Serotta bicycles, but rarely does a Meivici pop up in my size. This frame-set came up for sale and having missed the opportunity last time I decided to pick it up when it came up again. I was literally talking to one of my buddies at the shop about this very frame-set the day before it came back up, so it was a no brainer.

The finish work on this is of the highest level from the paint to the lugged carbon construction! These bikes are gorgeous!

With the help of Clean39T I procured a Sram Red 10spd group and some H-Plus Son wheels laced to Dt Swiss 240 hubs and built it up. The bike came in at 16lbs with a Berthoud saddle, Mandible cages and Speedplay frogs. Plenty light for me!

I have only been able to take it up the hill from my house and back down in order to get a quick feel for the bike. It feels very smooth and planted to me so far, but am awaiting Spring to hit and the roads to get a bit cleaner before I start riding this regularly!

Looks great, Adam! I’ve always been curious about these frames as well so I’ll look forward to a proper ride report and where this fits relative to all the other great frames you’ve owned.

Day-um that is a real score right there!
Looks like it is on the smaller end of the size range of bikes you typically ride?

Yes, this is on the smaller end for me. I am measuring around a 53ish vtt.

Serotta Meivici

Went out for a shakedown ride yesterday with a small group from my house. The bike certainly rides very nice! I was a bit nervous as these bikes are all custom and do not know which tubing was used for the frame. I am pushing 230lbs plus clothing and such, so was worried about too much frame flex especially while out of the saddle. I also sized down for this one to see how it would feel. We only rode somewhere around 27 miles iirc, but it was spent descending into the valley and then climbing back up.

I really like this bike and was impressed with its performance and comfort. It climbs wonderfully at 16lbs and it is a very stable descender. The fit feels pretty good as well. I definitely felt fresh and not beaten up for not being in great shape. Didn’t grab too many photos as I was just busy riding, but one non driveside shot of the bike.

Yeah Bob, yours looks nice as well! I really like how this one performs. Time will tell how long it will last before I lose interest?

Sweet ride!

That was among THE top of the heap in quality and price in its day.

Would venture it's still as good as anything out there at any price.

Enjoy!

Adam - with the way you flip bikes, I’d say lucky if it makes it past 2021. The bucket list of bikes seem endless lol

Thanks! It rides great and the construction is top notch IMHO! 23mm Vittoria Evo CX tires with tubes and the bike felt smooth over everything we encountered. I didn't feel the need for larger volume tires as the bike was comfortable and responsive to input. I need a bit more time and some longer rides on it, but it rides like a high end road bike!
