At least you don't have to clear customs for it.

I remember when I watched the slow progression from Portland to Toronto, by a very circuitous route, it was painful.

If/when I do another custom bike, I think I'll go in person for the consult, then return in person for the pickup.

I completely agree with you pdonk on doing another custom that way. I hope to be super happy with this one and only custom for a while. I turned 47 this year and it’s taken me forever to get a custom. Really didn’t have a fit issue. Luckily I can achieve 95% of my ideal riding position on most stock sizes. Going custom was a pure treat to myself as I had a major change in health that provided me a lot of perspective on life. The small gain was marginal but we should enjoy what makes us happy if / when we can. I have the time, money, and health NOW. Don’t want to waste the perfect chance as it may never happen again. Stay well PL family.

In the spirit of SV’s Surprise Me, KarlC sent me a package without saying anything. He figured it would go well with my new rig. Thanks KarlC for the awesome gesture. SV brothers for life!

Ask and y’all shall receive. Paint protection film is next but got a lot of real work to knock out before I can play with this project.

Before doing a full wrap of protection film, check out velocolour's recent post on instagram on the subject. They warn against it for multiple reasons. They suggest key spots only.

If you want to protect the paint, let it cure for a few weeks before assembling, then a few coats of wax will help. Or send out for another coat of clear coat.

Enjoy the new ride.

so absolutely gorgeous...

The pump might be my most favorite part, for some reason!

And yea maybe pass on the PPF. On my SV I gave it a good clean when it was new (i had received it after repairs and a fresh re-paint) and several coats of a nice wax. So far so good.. almost 6000 miles on it this year. Sure it's just one color but its holding up.

SV says their bikes are made to be ridden! so a few little rock chips here and there give it character!

I understand the desire to wrap it first thing, but..+1 on the curing. Wet paint needs considerable time to cure, versus other paint methods - and consequently that’s probably one of the best ways to protect it.

I let mine sit for a good 3-4 weeks after I got it while building it, and that seems to help a lot - the paint is not nearly as delicate as it would be otherwise. I talked with Woody a good amount during my visit and he said it wasn’t a bad idea either - especially if you want it to last.
