Cadence sensor

I’d like to add a cadence sensor to one of my bikes. I have a Karoo2 head unit so I can display the cadence, but don’t have any other sensors on the bike.

I saw the Garmin Cadence sensor 2, and it looks simple and should work. Is there anything else I should be considering?

There are some very affordable power meter options (Stages, Quarq, and Pedals) that would give you both power and cadence in a single part and you wouldn't have a one off sensor hanging off the bike.

Otherwise, plenty of options from Wahoo and Garmin as long as you have the crank arm clearance on your frame to install one.

Thanks, I don’t use power for training enough to justify a power meter , and would prefer not to add extra stuff to this bike. I’ve thought that pedals might be an answer, but they are fairly pricey for the limited use I might have for the power info. So for the moment I’m thinking of just adding a cadence sensor.

But I will admit to oggling the Favero Assioma website!

I have some Kurt Kenetic cadence sensors and they have worked well

I have a spare Wahoo cadence sensor which I don't need because I have a power meter. Happy to let it go for cheap if you're interested; to be clear, while I have used Wahoo cadence sensors reliably in the past this one is essentially new, just not in the box.

I use a cheap china cadence sensor (Xoss) works fine....

The Garmin one works great, set it and forget it, I used it on my bikes for years before I started using power meters.

(But I mean, you should use a power meter! They are unbelievably helpful!)

I had bad luck with those Garmin sensors. Like I've got at least 1/2 or more that just stop working no matter what you do. I essentially gave up on them.

Not a battery issue obviously, my Garmin computer just stopped recognizing them. No amount of resetting, pairing, pairing manually, etc. got them working again. Seemed like a common issue when I was googling for solutions a few years back. Maybe they are improved....

That also was my experience. This is why I went to the Kurt Kinetic.
