The overall design of the outer shell is better and simpler (dare I say elegant). Some people complain. The zipper being on the bottom is an issue but it is not. Silca seems fancy to be fancy. It’s also high quality (the highest) and everything works great. The outer shell bag uses quality fabrics, zippers, hooks and loops. It all seems to works really well. Plus, I’m not a fan of tool rolls which the Silca is sort of. To me tool rolls waste precious space with fabric. It’s personal. The Silca is badass and very well appointed but I think the outer shell is better.

Jandd mini mountain wedge or Jandd tubular tire bag. Both function super well, are reliable and inexpensive.
They are not stylish, but they are well designed. |

I really like the arundel bags. The outershell quality is superior. And trust me, it keeps stuff dry.

I like the Silca use of the BOA system...easy and secure. the seat roll premio is small and road oriented - but silca does offer larger tool roll and a pod - both with BOA
if not that, then jandd mini - been using those for years before the silca. switched mainly because BOA made it easier to move bag across bikes. I understand the PITA of a tool roll but once you figure out the best way to pack it, it's no longer a PITA Last edited by pdmtong; 01-21-2020 at 06:45 PM. |

I too like the Outershell on my "gravel" bike, but I'll also plug the ILE seat bag. Swallows a 29er tube, levers and a few small other bits easy and straps down tight. Easy on/off with QR buckle. I've also got a very similar one from Andrew the Maker that uses a Voile strap. All work very well.

Velocolour has been my favorite based on their superb attention-to-detail the past few years.
Going back prior...I used to like Timbuk2...until they began cheaping-out and cutting corners. |

Screw straps, velcro or otherwise. Small Topeak Wedge. Holds two tubes and a tire lever. Clip on/off. Eazy peezy. None better, IMO.

I took an out of character, for me anyways, chance on this Kickstarter:
https://www.vouel.com/snap-b Otherwise a Jandd mini mountain wedge works for me. |
