Whether as buyers or sellers, I've had good to great dealings with these people:

Eddief
Sienna
Jmeloy
Pegoready
SpeedyChix
Thwart
KonaSS

Probably more, but this is all the info I have right now...

Dave, who bought a frame or two from three of those folks and sold two frames to two of those folks so that's the higher end of deals

sellers:
chrispilot
petitlilpettit
Ryun

chris is extremely trustworthy, sent the item out before i sent payment and when i accidentally sent the payment twice, he refunded me immediately.

petit - good communication and timely shipping, excellent

Ryun was the first person I bought anything from on the forums, exactly as described great price and speedy delivery

there are some others on here but i wiped my messages and cant recall who they are, but so far not a single bad experience. nothing but positives all around. thanks.

Thumbs up for Skip0327. Recently bought a frame, condition was described accurately and shipped able to withstand a nuclear bomb.

I'm trying to sell a frame but am trying to figure out how to deal with payment for a non-local sale. I don't have a Paypal account, is that a necessity?

I would suggest a check be sent to you and when it clears then you mail the bike.

Paypal works well and I have an account but seldom use it. It is easy to set up BUT there is a fee by you the seller to use.

i don't even remember how many people i've bought/sold stuff to

but guylimey is excellent on the side of selling, i received a torelli frameset for a hell of a price that i have sitting in the corner of my dorm one way or another, i got it at a price that i probably couldn't even get the fork for.

thegunner is beyond a stellar seller. He sent me a Shimano shifter cable for free, and insisted on paying for the postage.
