Hotel deLuxe

Recommended by forum members to me several years back. Excellent accommodations with a superb restaurant, all within waking distance of downtown attractions. Would gladly stay there again.

Cheers.

You may want to check the STP site (GroupHealth, I think). Since the ride ends in downtown Portland, they likely have suggestions on where to stay.

Ace Hotel is boutique but expensive, Park Lane Suites and Inn less boutique but better deal a bit further from center of downtown.

i stay downtown quite a bit. DeLuxe is ok, tiny rooms, cramped, beds ok, location is ok, not great. Benson was ok, a bit dated in many ways. Frankly, i like the Marriott downtown, not the one on the river. decent size room, location ok, good beds and pillows (have to be feathers). Marriott riverfront is too far south, rooms good.

Yes, Benson is past its prime. Ace is worth a look. But oddly, Portland doesn't have a great, small funky hotel. You'd think it would.

Portland, Oregon Hotel Recommendations

I liked the Heathman Hotel quite a bit on a recent trip. Elegant, and yet totally happy to have me rolling my bike through the lobby. Comfortable beds, nice rooms, French press coffee in room was a nice touch. Great location. They serve a nice breakfast. I don't know if it is boutique or not....

Second the Heathman. Checkout the Monaco or The Nines as well.

Northrup Station. Just outside downtown and on the fringe of the Pearl District. Great place to walk the city from. Excellent resturants/coffee shops in the neighborhood. Walkable to 5 or 6 good bike shops.

It's where I try "to put" our friends when they come to town. It's also right on the streetcar line and the train stops virtually at it's front door I think. Otherwise I'd suggest Hotel Modera. Very cool place downtown.

+1 for the Monaco.

Thanks to you both for confirming my pick. I like that place a lot and it's "just right" in terms of the OP request.
