There are two kinds of riders

Dang...its been 3 years or so since I hit the pavement. Today was a first. Left the house, went a half block, turned 90 right and downhill at speed, and POW front tubular blew while I was leaned over. It was like someone shot the bike out from under me-instant on the deck, no slide, just pow. Landed on saturated lawn-would have rather slid, as I stopped instantly and hit my head hard. I've had concussions that didn't hurt as much, because they knocked me out.

Pushed the bike home, grabbed another front Lightweight off of another bike and went back out. Not the brightest move maybe, but get back on the horse.

Did your noggin cushion the fall of the bike though?

Haha, all joking aside I hope you're ok. Hits to the head are never a good thing.

Most important, glad you’re ok (you ARE OK, right?)

Your subject reminds me of a favorite bad math joke, here adapted for Paceline:

There are 10 kinds of riders. Those who understand binary and those who do not.

I'd sacrifice some skin before paint or even a lever.

I'm fine. Its just the sudden nature of the thing. I mean, I dumped a Ducati at 75 mph on a public road, and it was like a newsreel in comparison. This was just BAM, bam. I still have no idea why the front blew. If i wasn't cranked over, no issue, I've ridden an innumerable count of tubie flats in almost 40 years on the bike, but never a blowout while leaned over. Sheeet.

Yes, in the sense that I'm where I was before. But you've seen Pulp Fiction, I trust?

Not gonna lie, it's these types of blowouts that scare the beejesus out of me. Just think if that would have happened on a 50mph descent..
