Now it's been confirmed on the website:

Quote:
Bob Jackson Cycles have the great pleasure to announce that they will no longer be closing as planned on the 18th December.

Additional investment and support has been secured to ensure the iconic brand of Bob Jackson Cycles will be continuing well into the future whilst thankfully remaining at our historic Leeds factory. We will continue to build and restore frames to our exceptionally high standards and the current skilled team will be retained and expanded to allow us to take on additional work, whilst investing heavily and improving our processes and facilities to align with expected future demand.

With immediate effect – We are now open to all retail and trade orders and will be communicating some exciting news over the next few months as we realign the business towards future sustainability whilst protecting and building upon our amazing heritage.

We apologise and regret any confusion or distress our decision may have caused over the preceding few months – but we fully intend to be around for at least another 85 years – doing what we do best.

We look forward to welcoming both old and new customers to Bob Jackson Cycles as we begin a new chapter in the long story of this incredible company.

Great news, my old bike will be pleased
Gotta admire anyone who can work "whilst" into a short announcement three times!

Now that they're back from the dead, has anyone considered ordering from them?

I may. I have a fixed gear frameset that I loved (dipped toe into selling because I already have another fixed gear and couldn't see commuting on it) and would love to get a road frame built to the exact same geo/spec.

The process working with them was a pleasure; they made their dates, accommodated questions very responsively, and the price really makes their work a great value. They're not precious like some other custom builders; they're tradesman who make nice stuff to order at a reasonable price IMO.

FWIW, the paint/finish and lug lining on mine is excellent. I've seen that noted as a complaint before (probably years before) but no issues whatsoever.

Considered? Yes. Their Audax End-End model takes medium-reach brakes, and is quite reasonable even with tubing upgrades. It should be a great "real-world" road bike that fits 700x32. I've just gotten sucked down the rabbit hole of vintage Trek conversions instead.

I do wish they posted geometry information and not just the seat tube length, but I'm guessing that if I'm serious about buying a frame, I can drop them an email to discuss it.

I wonder why they would not have a geometry chart. Without one it seems as though they would field a lot of unnecessary inquiries.

Stone Cycles

I'm guessing that Stone Cycles in Alameda, CA still has a bunch of these for sale. I bought my Gunnar there a few years ago and there were a few dozen of the Bob Jackson's hanging on the wall.

That was a pretty quick about face on closing. I wonder how their strategy and offerings will change with "new investment" most likely having a significant say in the future of the business.

Pulled up the site, one cool looking shop! It's like my bike cave x100!

It was.

On the upside, in the few months between the closure announcement, the resurrection and the final sad demise, I managed to order and collect a frame.

Every cloud and all that!
