Same here. Had a 500 forever until it finally died. Wahoo bolt works flawless, I especially like the buttons on top versus on the side. I wasn't too impressed
with the "aero" out front mount that came with it. Little too flimsy for my liking.

use a recent smartphone with the app from ride with gps.

You'll need an extra external battery to get 12 hours. For my normal 2 to 3 hour rides I come home with 80% of battery left.

If you're cheap, find a used Garmin 500. You should be able to get one for almost nothing. Basic and it works.

Saying that, I'm also looking for a new computer to replace my 500. Will get either a Garmin 530 or a Wahoo. I really want bluetooth, I don't connect anything, and just want something that works.

If daytime screen glare is an issue for the op, I'd steer clear of garmins. Wahoo is up next on my list to try.

A used Garmin is not going to get 12 hours of battery life. That's why they're so cheap used.

The Lezyne units have their pros and cons, but the battery life is great (20-30 hrs per charge) and they're pretty straightforward.

Good call, thank you. Polar struggles in this area.

Man, those are nice looking, great price too.

Lezyne offers some nice looking hand tools too.

It is. Our bike club has more than 300 routes in a shared repository on rwgps. Creating a new route, once you are familiar with the site takes maybe 20 to 30 minutes for a 30 mile route. Download the route to your phone using the phone app and get turn by turn instructions as you ride. Works with most bluetooth sensors. Most phone screens these days are easier to see and use than a Garmin. My Garmin 800 sits unused.

i've asked a few times in the past regarding the lezyne units and gotten little feedback. for as much love as lezyne gets for their tools/pumps, it seems not too many use their computers.

I am a fan of the Garmin 130 plus. It does everything I need it to in a small compact form. You still have to deal with Garmin horrible user interface. But such is life.

agree, my EDGE 500 was dying, i ended up buying a generic battery on ebay for $15 or so, and DIY'd in 10 mins. works like new again
