Road Rage in the OC.

This happened about 8 miles from my house. News reports said the windshield was busted up from the impact. Witnesses said the strike was intentional.

Surprising, shocking, disturbing, sick.

Ironic that there a bike lane that is separated from traffic lanes by a barrier all the way between San Clemente and Dana Pt. This must have happened outside that area. If it happened as reported the perp should get life sentence or death penalty.

Shocking story for sure. There was some speculation that the victim might have known the suspect, anyone hear more about this?

None of the local news have identified either the suspect or victim.

To Deluz's comment the incident took place up above Salt Creek in the Monarch Beach area of south Laguna and Dana Point.

Lot of cyclists in the area, but I have never mountain biked in that area all the mountain biking I have done has been on the north side of Laguna.

It's been awhile, but from what I remember that section has wide traffic and bike lanes. Laguna Beach itself is another story, total lack of bike lanes and unfriendly to cyclists, really sucks to ride through there.

From the OC Register:

A 39-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the slaying of a 58-year-old doctor who was riding a bicycle in Dana Point when he was run over, hurled into the air and then stabbed.

Michael John Mammone was riding his mountain bike northbound on Pacific Coast Highway when he was struck from behind at Crown Valley Parkway by Vanroy Evan Smith, 39, of Long Beach, Orange County Sheriff’s officials said. Smith was behind the wheel of a white Lexus.

traffic cam footage--warning, hard to watch

don't click if you don't want to see it, impact about 10 seconds in you can't un-see it.

https://twitter.com/RssRyan/status/1621022252795068417

I read car, knife, and then gun pulled, at which point bystanders subdued this piece of crap.

"neighborhood cam"

sorry when I posted I said traffic cam, but it's a neighborhood cam per the vid title, and that was the top video then when i linked it.
I didn't read comments but next door where I am is full of idiots and trolls that like to spread BS on nearly every topic I make the mistake of opening. I basically now use next door just to search for recommendations for plumbers or such.
