What model of Kreitier Rollers are these?
Can you tell the model/year just by the picture?

Looks like the largest size with Poly endcaps ...
Folding of course ... 4.5" size and the older end caps. Works great with a killer headwind if you are considering ...

Haha! As described, 4.5 inch and folding.
The colored anodized drums were discontinued perhaps 10 years ago in favor of clear alloy ones. Frankly, the anodized were better and kept the aluminum from transferring to your tires and protected marginally from sweat corrosion. Early ones were red or blue with contrasting rails. This color wasn't around for long and was at the end of the colored era. If given the choice, I'd always pick the anodized over the clear. I think the bearings were just a little bit better done back then. You may not have acorn nuts securing the drums to the rails; if so, the old nuts tended to rust so I'd suggest getting some matching stainless acorn nuts and using them instead. Check the rails carefully because Kreitler started and stopped using a rust-preventive primer coat several times during this period. They liked to rely on the heavy paint but at times it was a spray-on and the frame could start bubbling up rust pretty quickly. I assume you're thinking of getting them? Always a good deal because used Kreitlers go for a lot less than new and work really well. You may have to replace the furniture tips they used as feet; you shouldn't have to replace the band unless it was really abused or stretched from improper storage. |

Saw it on the local CL this morning. Missed having rollers around, gave mine away when we moved the last time, it was cheap performance bike brand.
Anyway, just got this from a guy who works in a bike shop for $120. Looking to do some Rollin '.

Nice find.
Those blackies are exactly what I'm on, now that the weather is beginning to suck. The very talented E. John hooked me up with a Killer Headwind. Makes it easy to dial in my required power. After riding off the front roller a couple of times (DOOH) I added a couple of scooter wheels on angle-iron to the sides- if my rim hits them I get a nasty SCREECH sound and I get back to the middle. Back to Festing in Sufferlandria for the freezy season. |

I have exact same ones and they work great. Later in the winter I combine a 1/2 warm up on the rollers then a 1/2 on the trainer, then back to the rollers for a cool down.
Have Fun |

I've just started on rollers, have worked up to a few minutes without rolling off. Looked easy when I saw a video of a woman making an omelette from start to finish and eating it while riding rollers in her kitchen. Long way to go before I get anywhere near that.
Mine are Travel Trac Alloy, roll beautifully. Last edited by merckxman; 12-09-2017 at 08:45 AM. |

Weisan-those rollers look like they have plastic drums and not alloy, no?
Kreitler offered a plastic drum for a period of time. My friend has a pair; probably 30 years old. Obviously, the plastic doesn't have the issues with the build-up on the tires. One problem I had with plastic rollers of a different brand-static electricity build-up. I'd stop riding, grab on to the steel support column in the basement, and my hand would about explode! I solved the problem; it's just something to be aware of if it happens to you.

Anyone in the SW CT or NYC area need a set of these, in not so pretty but very good functioning shape, PM me, $100. I grabbed them with lofty ambitions (first being just learning how to use them) which never materialized and never used them.
