And they could have highlighted the new Ekar groupset.

Looking at this a little more...
-the chainstays are quite long and the fork is quite beefy looking for only 40mm tire clearance. -short reach/front center means toe overlap probably a big issue. -cable routing looks clunky I think they landed in no-man's land between classic and modern, and it would be better to buy a classic road bike from Pegoretti and an allroad/gravel bike from another builder who understands that better.

I’m not sure how that fork would look on a different bike, but putting it on a skinny tubed steel bike is not good.

No, this one is more aero and can handle a bigger tire than the Peg.

I think the fork is the sort of thing that over time you'd get used to it, and perhaps even like it. But yeah, on first glance it isn't the most elegant thing in the world.

I've been going back and forth on the appearance of the fork. I hated it at first, but from a side photo - it looks perfect to me now. From the front/rear, it still looks too boxy to my eye, but I'm sure it'll ride amazingly well, and in person probably looks different too.

Pegoretti has designed its own forks since around 2010 after trying what was available. The ones I have tried are excellent.

How many forks/RnR frames do they need to sell to break even? |

- The fork looks nice from the side and fugly from the front. I am guessing they emailed the version 1 design to whoever builds this fork when they should have emailed version 10. The versions would show up next to one another and someone dragged the wrong saved version when attaching final design plans.
...kidding, but not. - The high BB is...terrible. Its just terrible for what they claim the bike should be and for what I think they should want the bike to be. That sort of shallow BB drop is not found on any 'All Road' bikes that I can think of, and its for a reason. It also isnt on any gravel bikes that I can think of. Heck, it isnt on any paved road bikes I can think of. I dont want old school Euro CX style BB drop for a road bike, all road bike, or gravel bike. - Tire clearance limited to 40mm when your brand doesnt offer a gravel frame is really missing a lot of the market. If they want to have an AR bike, cool, but make sure you cover the drop bar market on either side of that too. I am confident they could have made an identically riding bike that fit 43mm, 45mm, or even 48mm tires. Then, if people want to use a 35mm or 38mm tire, cool. If they had a gravel option alongside the many paved road options, then adding an AR model into the mix covers the spectrum. Not having a gravel option just leaves a large part of the drop bar spectrum ignored. Its a custom brand, so maybe a lot could be adjusted to make the bike closer to what many seem to want(comments made in articles). Either way, its their brand and they took a risk- hope they snag enough people so the risk pays off. |
