I just got a bike which positions me a good bit lower on the handlebar. The massive carbon stem the bike came with would look all wrong in a positive-rise configuration, so I have been looking at these riser bars lately as well.

Another option is the Controltech CLS Road Riser bar; slightly higher (+20mm) and cheaper than the Specialized Hover. Plus it has ovalized tops, which I am not sure that the Hover bar does.

Well I do need a new stem anyway. I have a 26.0 Thomson and the faceplate cracked. I replaced the faceplate but I thought that was a sign to replace the stem.
I also need to replace bar tape. And I am switching from canti to mini-V brakes so I need to redo the brake cable/housing so it's all taken apart anyway.
So I thought I would go 31.6 to be modern and to have more choice with bars and while it's all taken apart I could try one of these riser drop bars because I have heard good things about them and thought I would check here. They aren't THAT ugly. (IMHO)
Another forum member has some of the specialized alloy ones in his parts bin, along with a stem... and it's raining and 40 degrees outside and I am working from home.
And fashion, of course. I just can't bolt the boner stem onto my team-issue painted IF, which has almost no resale value anyway.
It's a cheap experiment.
You really need to grab your bike and say, "Yeah this thing is friggin sweet" and not "Well it looks like a short-bus window-licker, but rides good". The bike is a hobby and it's not all about performance, there's some joy in the aesthetically pleasing lines of a bicycle. This riser drop bar might ruin them, too... and then maybe it's time for a bike with a taller headtube and sloping toptube.

I have the Toseek carbon riser bars on my Look, replacing my formerly beloved Ritchey WCS ergo bends.

Love 'em.

And I don't acknowledge the fashion police.

I have a set of the aero risers on order for a bike that came to me with the steerer cut for a slam, which doesn't work for me. The fork is painted to match the bike, so a replacement would be pricey. I hate the look of a riser stem more than I dislike the riser bar.

I ride Condors on my gravel bike simply because I like the way they look. All of my bikes are different than what everyone else uses, if the dentist down the road rides it, I'll pass.
