Are you using tubes or going tubeless?

Very interesting. Curious how carbon rims ride with 32 spokes. Should make very laterally stiff wheels?

Forgive me for the question, but what's the utility of wheels like this?

They're quoted at 1650 ish grams for the pair. Yeah they kook great but you can build a set of strong aluminum rim brake clinchers that are the same weight if not lighter.

They might cost more than the song you got these for though!

19 internal width for anyone wondering.

Yeah, I would have jumped on that price. Swap freehubs with my alloy rim wheels, and then sold the alloy set to offset the cost.

You really think 450 is a lot for a carbon rim by a known and respected brand? How much is an enve or a zipp rim again?

agreed.

i will say this: i have used a number of tubeless wheels now, and the Mavic UST wheels i have used are the easiest to set up tubeless and seem to have the best design. i am a fan of the UST product line.

i think it's silly when people hold a grudge against an entire brand for some things that happened decades ago.

yes we know ancient open pros had some rim wedges come loose and rattle and it's hard to find a spoke for a 1997 ksyrium, but let's cut mavic some slack, their new stuff is good!

Hope you don’t have any warranty problems with Mavic. Then you’ll find out how “good “ they are.

when i buy bicycle parts, the absolute last factor i take into consideration is warranty coverage. i have been seriously cycling for many years now, and as far as i can remember, i have never, ever submitted a warranty claim for any product.

so yea, the internet fear mongering over warranty issues doesnt scare me

I was a total fanboy. I wouldn't ride anything but Mavic. After the third debacle I began to steer clear.

I never had problems with their rims. The wheels on the other hand. For me the problems started when the started with carbon wheels.

Nice Mavic

Oof, nice come up! I’ve always pined for a low profile carbon wheel set for my Moots.

A runner up would be a set of carbon hoops from Astral.

Couple grams better than their alloy rim for over 5 times the price?
