OT: Addalock
I came across this recently and thought it might be worth picking up. Mrs William will be traveling again soon, and our daughter is off at school, and I'm thinking a supplimental lock for a hotel or dorm room isn't a bad thing.
Anyone on the forum ever try one of these out? https://addalock.com W. |

I know nothing about these but a chairback under the door knob can work if the room has a suitable chair to use.

If I understand how that works, it doesn't do much. The worst hotel incidents have been perpetrated by people that had a key.

something like that would provide just a little extra security, but if someone wants in, it's not going to thwart them too much.
similar to the old fork trick that's been sround for decades.

I've done that as well. Sometimes though there isn't a suitable chair. Quote:
Exactly what it's for, a key won't be able to open the door with that on it. Quote:
Of course, if someone wants to kick the door in it's not going to matter what you have on it. For the sneaks who have keys, cards, or want to jimmy the door it's another matter. That's what something like this is designed for. The fork thing is interesting. Similar concept but I would say the addalok is more robust. Plus I just don't see Mrs William carrying forks around. I think we used to play similar tricks on friends using a few pennies.

The lock addition does look like a cool easy concept for a bit more safety.

Endemic to freshman dorms everywhere. Too bad for the lad on the 4th floor with me who refused to be punked that way. He crawled out the window and slid down a 1/4 inch hemp rope. Of course he couldn't slow his descent and cut down to bone on his hands.
