My son, who plays both classical upright bass & the electrified version, likes these two in particular:
Down in the Tube Station at Midnight - The Jam Higher Ground - Stevie Wonder Both sound great to this untrained ear

The bass is for people who can't make it as guitar players, right?
haha, just kidding. I love me a good bass line. Even a simplified guitar part that sounds like it could be a bassline, like some of Frusciante's stuff is great.

Yes...and one of the best opening tracks ever.
Most every song from Minutemen and fIREHOSE...Mike Watt is the man. AC/DC's Gimme a Bullet...so good. Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills Last edited by rst72; 08-16-2018 at 03:51 PM. |

The Stranglers - Peaches was the first that came to mind. Memorable.

Stevie Wonder albums have some great bass lines, Higher Ground was mentioned, I Wish has a good one too. Not actually played on a bass, but how about Flashlight by Parliament! |

Good pop=good bass line, since it drives the melody as well... DayTripper by the Beatles is a good one--sounded dramatic when new... |
