An improvement over the current batch of SUV's. Everytime I see one I can't help but see Buccee the Beaver coming down the road.

2) Form should follow function. EVs shouldn't have grills. It's really a bad fake. That's one of the things Tesla got right.

3) Aerodynamics is crucial to EV range. That's the function that should control.

4) Lamborghini's version.

1- most cars look the same nowadays, regulations has some part in this, you can't just go design whatever you want. Same with weight, cars are heavier now because of safety stuff. We can wax poetic of cars of the past but oems just can't build those anymore and that is what it is.

2- could have grills as a design element if they keep brand recognition and look good. Sure teslas don't have grills but they also look like dolphins, not really a car a consider good looking.

3- oems are definitely paying attention to aerodynamics, specially in EVs since to people in America a good EV = long range.

That's awful, IMO.

I've owned an e30, e38, e39, e46, and my current car, an e91. I just returned from a trip to Europe, finishing up in Munich. Obviously lots of new BMWs to be seen there, none of which I would care to drive. My next car will be a Mercedes/Audi/Volvo wagon.

I think what really makes it hot home that most new BMWs have become hideous for me is that the i3 now looks good in comparison.

The concept car doesn’t make me think they’re on the path to correcting things.

BMW is not the only one doing giant hideous grills though. I keep reading the Chinese market is totally nuts for giant grills and giant lighted badges. New Acuras have a big enough badge you could serve dinner on it. Mercedes is doing it too, and with tacky lights, but I think MB did a better job pulling it off. Their logo works with it somehow.

About 15 years ago a car guy at work bought some sort of GM, Buick or whatever. Huge grill. He looked like a dorky pimp driving it, but he was happy, so it was all good.

With LEDs, lights are now playthings for designers. Shapes, colors, motion, etc.

Gotta go. I see a cloud out there. Gonna go shake my fist at it...

That rear roofline down to the trunk is a bit reminiscent of a '72 Vega.
