Course is awesome. First 30miles have to be some of the best mixed surface riding in the world, the middle is really bumpy (including the climb/descent to/from Montezuma Pass) and the last third is really windy on the open plains. I would do it again but my 700x38c tires felt a bit small. A 700x43c or 650b setup would really have been a better match for the terrain. I think I also under-estimated the course starting at altitude (4000ft) and going up from there.

Hey that looks familiar! From February - last fun trip before pandemic. Great riding there. I had 25’s on that day so the descent was a little hairy at times.

Now for something a little different. I happened on this Surly frame for a good price. Had almost all parts except a rear wheel which I got from a good friend. Sort of hodge podge of parts but I like it—simple, quiet, and super fast/easy build up. Never had a brakeless fixie before (plenty of seat time on a fixed gear though). This may be my midlife crisis project. No bar spins or riding fakie for me though.

Do you mind reporting on the 7005? Cool that you have their gravel and road offerings.
