The amount of intelligent people I've ever seen on a sport bike is zero.

Making an illegal pass and then hurting someone? Jail time IMO.

yep, there are several situations/roads I won't ride in.. in fact, with the light and my commute hours, I'll be on the trainer all winter during the week.. will get some outdoor time during the weekend..

On this summer comes and I have better hours, might be hitting the dirt more as well..

Mind boggling...............

Quote:
A 33-year-old man with dozens of previous DWI charges was "grossly impaired" and speeding when he hit and killed a bicyclist on Sunday on N.C. Highway 98 in Durham, prosecutors said in a bond hearing Monday morning.

It’s always scary to be a cyclist in a country that doesn’t protect its vulnerable road users.

As we all know, kill or maim a cyclist (assuming not drunk and did actually stop at the site of the accident) and the driver usually gets off with the proverbial slap on the wrist.

Sorry to learn of the lose of your friend.

This is local to me and have ridden on short stretches of 98. That this character was able to continue driving.....I'm sure there are judges that allowed him to continue driving. I dont know how, but judges need to be held to some account.

From the reporting of the accident, among the charges: Driving while license suspended impaired revocation.

Inadequate enforcement of revoked license for drunk driving is the problem. And a common one.

Certainly part of the problem.

I sat in court a few times (Maryland and NC) in support of cyclists/family who were either seriously injured or killed. So, sitting and waiting I've seen a good number of people who where caught DUI plead/grovel to judges for leniency. Many were repeat offenders yet more often than not judges allow them to keep driving as long as they took classes and/or perform community service.
