Tubs

Many years ago I managed to pull enough money together by shoveling snow and doing other odd jobs to purchase my first pair of tubs. They were Vittoria Supersports. I was also wise enough to purchase a spare that was fastened tightly beneath my Ideale model 80 saddle with a stretched-out Binda strap.

Now when we think of tubs, images of the stones come to the front.

I still have a pair of tubs that I blow the dust off a few times a year. When the bicycle is hung from the peg at the end of the day, I always wonder why I don't ride them every day. Maybe it is because we know that suffering confirms existence, and decadence should be enjoyed in small sips.

Ha, merckx man! You're in a pensive state of mind this morning. (Your contribution to the Campy v. Shimano discussion earlier today cracked me up.) FWIW, I'm from the Hedonism school and ride sew-ups most days of the week. You might take your own advice and carpe diem.

Yes, Mr. Merckx is a man of impeccable taste. WRT the decision to use tubulars, I have written here a number of times that as the bicycle market has “ progressed” and is now dominated by large companies with similarly large marketing departments, each equipment purchasing decision has largely been reduced to a decision between what you would prefer and what the industry wants you to have. The industry does not want you to use tubulars, and from the cycling press, which really cannot be separated from the industry, it seems as though their continued existence is an annoyance.

That be me as well. 30mm Strada Bianca and just glued up Friday 36mm of same, rode yesterday. Lots of me posting drivel about the tubeless tubular fan I have become.

25mm LGG, 28mm Hi Carbon Tufos, 30mm G-One Speed Evolution, and Strada Bs mentioned above..

I am drowning in the tubi cool-aide.

All Mastik, no stinkin Mascapone tub cheese tape here.

A bit of modern tubular, of the carbon rimmed disc variety going on here:

can't wait for 23mm tubular tires to come back en voque

i quess it's a big and fat show and tell

1 of 3 laws of conservation of energy,
and theres laws of motion. somewhere in there it states that big and fat is counter productive. someones school me on this shyt' so i go and look it up again.

"The law of conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed - only converted from one form of energy to another. This means that a system always has the same amount of energy, unless it's added from the outside'

what do i know, i am a baker, a dishwasher, and a lawn mowerer

According to Newton's first law, a body in motion tends to remain in motion at a constant velocity. However, when you slide an object across a surface, the object eventually slows down and stops. Why? The object experiences a frictional force exerted by the surface, which opposes its motion

The Tufo S33 Pro is the everyday training tire of the Tufo line. It's inexpensive, yet it still has many of the same features of the racing models. This tire is sure to impress you with its superior ride quality. Sizes 700c x 21mm

until you hit a crack in the road

You’re not alone! All I ride are 23 and 25mm Veloflex from my stash … very rare for me not to be on tubulars mounted on Campagnolo boras or shamals.
