Any automotive detectives that can ID this car?

On today's ride a car driver thew some at us. Something solid like a rock. Badly hurt a rider. We have video but it's not very clear. Maybe someone can ID the make and model. Not that i think it's going to help.

Good eye, Nick. That gen Solara (2004-2008 model year) did come with OEM five spoke wheels.

That said, I think they all had black window trim and the car in the OP has what looks to be chrome trim. Also looks to have a chrome door handle. My first inclination was some sort of Mercedes.

No way that's a Mercedes. I'm seeing an Audi A6 except it looks like a 2 door...

That's not an Audi, the coupes like A5 have a very different shape in the transition to the rear deck. My first thought was also a CL or possibly CLK.

Look at slide 8 in this Motor Trend article about Mercedes coupes through the years. Looks like a match to me. Note placement of the trim strip along side of car - matches. Silver trim - match. Headlights - match. https://www.motortrend.com/features/...istory/photos/

Could be off by a model year, though - the roofline doesn't quite look the same.

Not an Audi.

Definitely doesn't look like any 2 door Audi's, I agree.

Hard to make out those circular Mercedes headlights from the 2000s but the body shape and silver trim checks out. Google lens is smarter than I am.

Hope for justice

I was hit by a partially full beer bottle as a teen riding in rural Indiana. Felt like the baseball pitches I’d been hit with. At the time I was glad it wasn’t my head (probably 1982-3 and before helmets in my area).
Cop shows I watch would lead me to believe they can get a list of car owners and the ping cellphones of owners/family members to see who was on that road at that time.
I’m guessing TV probably skips some real-life hurdles to get such info.

If the cops don’t visit, let’s hope some form of karma does

The biggest hurdle in real life is the cops caring enough to investigate

+1

Years ago I was hit due to driver negligence, but not badly hit - mostly road rash on my left leg - and was able to ride home. The police didn't GAF.

The extremely concave door is the giveaway to me too. Also bottom edge of rear quarter window.

It looks like an early 2000s Acura CL Type S to me.
