Quick Update: I bought the Outbound light and out-front mount.. should be here soon and will see how it goes.
I'm keeping an eye out for good BF deals - maybe on a Varia - for a new taillight since the battery on my Bontrager Ion seems to be wearing out a bit after three years. |

I’m not sure it has the best light either. I don’t use headphones and can hear cars coming from behind… but maybe I need just the radar bit and a different light?

The radar was great. I wish I still had that. I didn’t know about the radar only option…will have to check it.
The ion light was roughly similar visibility in my very unscientific side by side test. |

I use a seat rail mount upside down and tuck it between the rails.

If it’s not too much trouble could you post a photo?

I have this mount on every one of my bikes so I can use the Varia Radar/Light on every ride. I almost refuse to ride without it. I want to know a car is coming up behind me ... especially at night. This mount is much better than the one that comes with the Varia. One of my riding buddies has some other 3rd party mount that is made of aluminum that looks pretty good too. |

It would look a lot better if you lower it to right above the seat collar. Or as another poster said, get the saddle rail mount. Beyond that, aesthetics is pretty low on my list of a light that functions this well.

That is a photo of the bike new test riding briefly. I use a saddle bag and ride in the desert on trails mostly so the light isn’t much of a priority and that one isn’t very good at that. If I needed light I’d use a dinotte or lupine.
The radar was nice on bike paths and some trails where MTB can go much quicker than I on gravel bike. |

I recently bought an Exposure Maxx d Mk13 and absolutely love it. I also bought the Exposure Diablo Mk12 for my helmet and with 1800 lumens it is bright enough to use alone but the battery life is not the longest. I did also buy a red bulb attachment which plugs into the charging port and between the 3 of them dearly hope that some kind pilgrim driving a milk float doesn't 'do me in' suggesting that they didn't see me. If they don't then I still hope to be posting here next summer

Here's where my rear light lives.
I forgot I flipped it back rightside up when I couldn't get the angle right w/ the tilt I needed. Flipped would tuck it in 1/2" tighter to the saddle but still not bad. If you go on Amazon, it's sold under the corki brand. |

What's the size and weight of the battery for the Outbound road edition? And how long is the cable from light to battery?
Doesn't seem to be on their site but maybe I'm blind. |
