Rack and IGH mechanism:too close for comfort?

I ended up getting a topeak super tourist disc rack to help lower the panniers for my bike friday family tandem.

To my dismay the rack's beefy dropout eyelet attachment point interferes with the bike's IGH mechanism. As such, I began filing away to make it fit. I have finally been able to attach the rack. Barely. The rack itself is now in light contact with the IGH mechanism. Should I try to get some clearance or will this work?
