I second NOX rims out of Tennessee (Knoxville, get it). I have the Falcor 36s. Built up by John Jones of Buelton, CA with White hubs. Extremely happy with them. Very durable, light, easy in the cross winds.

$750 for a carbon rim..well, I'd say that is firmly in the 'crazy expensive' arena.
