Very much appreciate the intel.
If the Columbus tubing decal is original the frame will be SL or SP or possibly a mixture of the two, but you may already know that much.

Merckx was semi mass producing frames at that time, so I _suspect_ one or the other, most probably SP given the frame size, rather than a mixture.

I can’t speak for Merckx specifically, but many builders didn’t differentiate between the two, just transitioning from one to the other in larger sizes.

Weighing the frame may be more definitive, from memory there’s several hundred grams between the two tube sets.

With a frame of this size, the most likely combination is: ST -> SL, TT, DT -> SP

Hi, I purchased from a person who purchased from a collector I was told it was an '82, though from the post above it may be an '83?

Well this is a long thread and I’m still not sure of my Merckx model and year.
I think maybe a professional from 85?
Can I have some one with a little expertise take a look?
Thank you
Scott

Not an expert, but I am an enthusiast.

From the pictures you've provided I would say you are close. I think it is a Corsa, not a Professional.

Perhaps @Emerxil will chime in, if he sees this.

I wish we had a tagging feature.

Me

@Emerxil is the expert.
From what I have read:
C=Corsa
3=c to center length of seat tube. Your frame a 53 or 63?
M= letter identifying final finisher (there are many letter)
Z=I have seen 1984 to 1986, and another as1985

Help identifying what I have

So I just got a new to me what seems to be a 1984-1985, professional or Corsa Extra, 64cm, but I could use some help identifying/verifying the BB data and model. Any help appreciated. Sorry the cable is just loose and slid over.

The year and possible model were provided by a couple Facebook groups. I had to resize the photos so hopefully they aren't to small.

I don't remember if I wrote about him on FB
A4 Z1743
A - EMC employee
4 - size 64
Z1743 - serial number, frame built in the fall of 1984
Frame is Eddy Merckx Professional, tubes are Columbus SL/SP (with this frame size rather SP), original stickers and varnish preserved.
