That was certainly true after his '98 comeback but he was a regular participant in the classics prior to his cancer. He won Fleche Wallone in '96, won San Sebastian in '95 finished 2nd in Liege Bastogne Liege in '94 and, of course, won the World Road Championship in '93.

He rode all the classics - Flanders, E3, M San Remo. His focus changed as the money came in. It became all about the Tour and he naturally made sure that he focused all his energy on that.

I find it interesting that people find LeMond a whiner. I have always thought he is telling as a matter of fact situations. For him is was. For us fans is more speculation. I like that he shares his insight to others to give us a personal account from his perspective.

Yes I'm a LeMond fan. I think he has earned my admiration.

I find it interesting that anyone couldn't see Lemond was a whiner. I used to be a Lemond fan. We ran into him at the Tour of California. My wife took a photo with him. I didn't.

Lance was an asshole. Almost everyone at the top of any sport is terrible to deal with. Tnat doesn't excuse it, it is what it is.

ALL of them doped. Frankly, every sport has that problem. Cycling is the only sport really going after the dopers and cycling fans seem to be the only ones who really care. Soortcasters use this to make cycling look like a dirty sport. But even high school kids in other sports are doping at a level that makes cycling look clean in comparison.

No one who came in the top 50 of the Tour can be considered a clean rider. None of them will willingly admit it. Even people caught red handed claim they didn't do it.

Get over yourselves.

What made you not a fan?

Cycling now has no appeal to me. It has become more of a nostalgic thing for me. The equipment was most of the appeal for back then. Now that the price of the latest and greatest is the price of a lifetime memory vacation for my family it’s hard for me to ride something new.

lol... There is a movement to burn "all of history" to the ground"...??

No... Some people are just tired of the continued celebration of racism in the form of landmarks featuring it's defenders.

You are shouting generalities and blaming individuals. When you call LA and Eddy Merckx sinners of the same guilt it shows how incompetent is cancel morality.

Anyone who races down one of those cols at full speed in the rain like LeMond is not a whinner.

Is it a verbal warning if you write it?

William,

As long as you have complete consideration for what's being said, I leave it to you to do what's best...

Right!

The man truly loved and still loves the sport. Yeah, I'm a major fan too.
